Physical Activity Encourages Healthy Brain Proteins in Individuals with Dementia
Dementia News: We have known for a while now that people who are physically active are less likely to experience the negative effects of Alzheimer's Disease. New research partially explains why that is.
Physical activity in elderly individuals with Alzheimer's disease causes more of a protein in the brain that helps neurons stay healthy and communicate with one another. So, even while the brain may be deteriorating structurally due to Alzheimer's, it is still communicating well enough that the active elderly person experiences fewer functional deficits.
So, stay active!
